Duties & Responsibilities:
The Historic and Archaeological Preservation Board was created by the Town Council to further its goals of recognizing, protecting and enhancing properties within the town having historic, archaeological or aesthetic significance. The Board’s work includes the inventorying and surveying of historic buildings, areas and archaeological sites and the planning for their preservation, as well as the recommendation of landmarks and landmark sites within the Town. The Board also has review authority over the demolition or major remodeling of structures fifty (50) years of age or older (if the building is determined to have historical significance), as well as earth disturbing activities on sites which are known to have archeological resources. They are governed by Section 3.8 of the Land Use and Development
Code.
