1.  What Flood Zone an I In?

Each property is zoned differently. You should contact Mr. Adrian Marks, Flood Plan Manager at 236-2185. You will need to know your street address.


2.  How long is my building permit good for?

Six months, but two 90-day extensions may be granted by the Building Official, as long as there inspections requested within that time.

3.  What is a "street file"?

This is the file that contains all pertinent information regarding your property, including building plans, survey, etc.

4.  When is a permit required?

A permit is required for all work except minor repairs, painting, carpet and floor tile.

5.  Can I build an addition if my home is in a Special Flood Hazard Zone?

Only if the structure meets all current Town and FEMA requirements.

6.  Can I remodel my home in a Special Flood Hazard Zone, if it is not currently meeing the Flood Hazard requirments?

Yes, if the total job cost is less than 50% of the value of the structure only.
