The Criminal Investigative Unit is responsible for initial and follow-up investigation of crimes occurring within the Town of Ponce Inlet. Investigators are responsible for locating and interviewing victims and witnesses: locating, identifying and preserving evidence; processing crime scenes; recovering stolen property; identifying and arresting criminal suspects; and presenting cases to the State Attorney for prosecution.
CIU is also responsible for the storage and processing of property and evidence; public information, Internal Affairs, and Public Information.
Crime Prevention: is a responsibility of the Criminal Investigative Unit. Requests for information on a variety of subjects made be directly to Detective Max Binz. Information is available on identity theft, shopping safety, residential security, harassing phone calls, telephone solicitors and fraud just to name a few.
