The Criminal Investigative Unit is responsible for initial and follow-up investigation of crimes occurring within the Town of Ponce Inlet. Investigators are responsible for locating and interviewing victims and witnesses: locating, identifying and preserving evidence; processing crime scenes; recovering stolen property; identifying and arresting criminal suspects; and presenting cases to the State Attorney for prosecution.
CIU is also responsible for the storage and processing of property and evidence; public information, Internal Affairs, and Public Information.
Crime Prevention: is a responsibility of the Criminal Investigative Unit. Requests for information on a variety of subjects made be directly to Lieutenant Max Binz or Corporal Corey Mead. Information is available on identity theft, shopping safety, residential security, harassing phone calls, telephone solicitors and fraud just to name a few.
