Employee of the Year 2010- Adrian Marks
Adrian Marks is a quiet, behind the scenes employee whose contributions toward the mission of the Town could have gone unnoticed were it not for the new Employee of the Year Program. Firm criteria were established and then employees were asked to make their nominations accordingly. These nominations were then reviewed and ranked by a selection committee of peers. Adrian is the winner of the first Employee of the Year award.
Adrian was hired by the Town of Ponce Inlet as Chief Building Official and Flood Plain Manager on March 6, 2001. He faced many challenges upon his arrival, including the aftermath of Tropical Storms and Hurricanes along with updating the Flood Plain Management Plan. In order to bring the Town back into compliance with Flood Plain standards, Mr. Marks put in many hours of effort, above and beyond his job duties. His success was demonstrated by the Town’s remarkably increased rating which allows citizens to receive a discount on their flood insurance.
Mr. Marks is also working as project manager for the restoration of 143 Beach Street - a joint project with ECHO. His watchful eye has been on this project for over 6 months both on the construction and finance end, while managing the building and code enforcement division, serving as the only building inspector and the only code enforcement officer for several months. Despite this busy schedule, the restoration project has moved along with the enthusiastic cooperation of Davis Preservation Inc. and is near completion.
Congratulations, Adrian!
