The Town of Ponce Inlet has a Pet Registration Ordinance (Sec. 10-61) that requires Ponce Inlet dog and cat owners to register their pets every January 1st with the police department.
In 2009 the town determined that the unintended or uncontrolled breeding of dogs and cats within the county leads to many dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens being unwanted, becoming strays, suffering privation and death, being impounded and euthanized at great expense to the community, and constituting a public nuisance and public health hazard.
