Water System Improvement Information

In January 2007, town staff directed Quentin L. Hampton Associates, Inc. (QLHA), the town's engineering firm) to perform a study in identifying areas of deficiency within the Town's water distribution system. This is the Water System Improvement Report, 2007, dated January 2007 and revised in December 2007.

In March 2009, town staff met with officials from the City of Port Orange to discuss future infrastructure upgrades. From this meeting, Port Orange representatives agreed to cost-participation projects wherein the City would install the sewer system at the same time the Town upgraded the water distribution system. It is beneficial to participate in a joint project as the costs will be shared by each entity, and the inconvenience to the residents would be minimal.

Areas for Projects

Areas for project upgrades are chosen and prioritized by the number of developed lots within the neighborhood, the feasibility of connecting to the existing sewer system, and the urgency of the upgrades needed.

At this time, projects under consideration for infrastructure upgrades include Rains Drive (already in progress), and the Lighthouse Shores subdivision.

Water & Sewer Master Plan

The Town is currently working with the City of Port Orange and representatives of QLHA to develop a Water and Sewer Master Plan. This will enable both the Town and the City of Port Orange to better recognize, assess, and prioritize future infrastructure needs within the Town of Ponce Inlet.

Hydration Reminder
